D.A.R.T.
D.A.R.T. is an innovative program established by the Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Ohio Attorney General, Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, and others, which dispatches law enforcement officers directly to hospitals to work with people who have overdosed and their families to guide them to addiction resources for housing and long-term recovery. The goal is to divert these individuals from the criminal justice system into appropriate treatment.

Mental health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County
The vision of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County is visionary leaders targeting resources that achieve healthy communities by building a comprehensive prevention, treatment, and recovery system.

Lucas County Health Department
The mission of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is to improve the health and well-being of all Lucas County residents. This is achieved through health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and the pursuit of a clean and safe environment.

National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
NIAAA supports and conducts research on the impact of alcohol use on human health and well-being. It is the largest funder of alcohol research in the world. NIAAA leads the national effort to reduce alcohol-related problems.

National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA)
NIDA’s mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. This charge has two critical components. The first is the strategic support and conduct of research across a broad range of disciplines. The second is ensuring the rapid and effective dissemination and use of the results of that research to significantly improve prevention and treatment and to inform policy as it relates to drug abuse and addiction.

Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders. NIMH is one of the 27 Institutes and Centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation’s medical research agency. NIH is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
